Kimberley Crossing, the Pentecost River
Print to canvas
152cm x 122cm, 60" x 48"
For those with a taste for adventure, it is hard to beat the El Questro Station & Wilderness Park in the heart of Western Australia’s Kimberley region. Comprising over 700,000 acres of vast and diverse landscape, the property features waterfalls, thermal springs and ancient gorges and is flanked by both the magnificent sandstone escarpments of the Cockburn Range (seen here in the background) and the tempestuous, saltwater Pentecost River.

With good weather conditions and a sturdy 4-wheel drive, one can cross the Pentecost River at this location in the park- but be reminded of the hazards: the crossing is long, the water levels can be deceptively deep and, should one stall in the middle, a hungry saltwater crocodile or two will be more than happy to meet you.

Nothing like a little peril to stoke the creative juices…
