Ice Crystals - SOLD
Oil on canvas
40cm x 50cm, 16”x20”
Who doesn’t remember the magic of these crystal spikes as a child? They tantalized us, begging us to touch them, eat them, use them as magic wands, or swords used to slay imaginary dragons. Their beauty becomes even more apparent to me when seen through my adult eyes. Having not witnessed an icicle since childhood, I began to notice that, like snowflakes, no two icicles are the same.
This cluster of naturally formed magic, spied hanging from an Okanagan veranda, called to me as it not only reflected the rooftops below but also the brewing winter storm in the distance.
Next time you see an icicle, I urge you also to look closer and see what magic it hides.
